Types of cloud services: IaaS, PaaS, serverless and SaaS

Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS): This is the most basic type of cloud computing services. With IaaS, you lease IT infrastructure – servers and virtual machines (VMs), storage, networks, operating systems – from the service provider on a pay-as-you-go basis.

Platform as a Service (PaaS): PaaS is designed to simplify the development and management of software applications and websites for DevOps, without worrying about the underlying infrastructure of servers, storage, network and databases needed for development.

Serverless Computing: Serverless computing concentrates on building app functionality without spending time frequently supervising the servers and infrastructure required. The cloud provider handles the setup, capacity planning, and server management for you, scaling services, when a specific function or event-driven trigger occurs.

Software as a service (SaaS): Is a process for delivering software applications over the Internet, on-demand and usually on a subscription basis. With SaaS, cloud providers host and administer the software application and underlying infrastructure, and handle any maintenance, such as software upgrades and security patching.
